AUGUST 1949: J. J. (Jerry) Simpson started Simpson Elevation Company Limited This was a subscriber service aimed at providing the Alberta petroleum industry with reliable ground and Kelly Bushing (K. B.) elevations for wellsites.

DECEMBER 1952: A burgeoning oil industry created demand for new services. To meet client needs, the company began performing wellsite and access road surveys. Subsequently, these services and pipeline right-of-way surveys became one of the company's key areas of expertise.

APRIL 1953: A Saskatchewan division of the company was formed, with offices in Regina and Estevan, under the direction of Gordon Goldsworthy, SLS, MLS, DLS.

|
JANUARY 1955: An Edmonton office was opened to serve northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
|
|
|
MAY 1957: The company name was changed to Midwest Surveys Limited for Alberta operations and Midwest Surveys (Regina) Ltd. for Saskatchewan.

MARCH 1963: Lloydminster office opened and the Saskatchewan company name was changed to Midwest Surveys (Sask.) limited.

MID 1960's: First computer system purchased for Midwest Surveys, operated out of the Calgary office.

JULY 1978: Medicine Hat office established.
|
|

DECEMBER 1979: J. J. Simpson retires and W. E. (Bill) Turner, ALS becomes the second president of Midwest Surveys in Alberta.

MARCH 1980: First WANG computers were acquired for the Calgary office.

APRIL 1982: Bill Turner retires and Leonard Leiman, ALS is elected to succeed him as president.

1985: Bruno Hoever, SLS becomes president of Midwest Surveys (Sask.) Limited.

|
MARCH 1990: Maple Creek office opened.
|
|
|
|
SEPTEMBER 1991: The name of the Alberta company is changed to Midwest Surveys Inc.

|
|
NOVEMBER 1991: The company acquires its first GPS equipment.

MAY 1997: J. G. (Jim) Halliday, ALS is elected president and Len Leiman becomes the chairman of the Board of Directors of Midwest Surveys Inc.

JANUARY 1999: Midwest Surveys Inc, Midwest Surveys (Sask.) Ltd, and Midwest Surveys (Lloyd.) Ltd amalgamate into one company -- Midwest Surveys Inc.

JULY 2002: Grande Prairie Office opens.

MARCH 2003: Midwest Surveys Inc. purchases Cridland & Associates. Peace River becomes Midwest's 9th office.

APRIL 2003: New branch office opens in Brooks, AB.

JUNE 2003: Midwest Surveys has more than 260 employees across the 10 offices!

NOVEMBER 2004: Midwest Surveys has more than 375 employees working out of 9 offices and several field locations.

|
DECEMBER 2004: Midwest is selected by the Globe and Mail as one of the Top 50 Employers in Canada. Midwest is ranked #24 in the nation.

|
FEBRUARY 2007: Midwest Surveys, in partnership with Bennett Land Surveying, opens an office in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Operating under the name, Midwest Surveys (BC) LLP, the partnership brings Midwest's oil and gas surveying expertise to northeastern BC.
